Like Lindsay Lohan, Hayden Panettiere acted in commercials and starred on a soap before finding big-screen success. But the 17-year-old says that’s where the comparison ends: “It’s sickening that people want to knock me down - but they don’t know me,” says Hayden, who has a plan for avoiding the child-star trap.

TMZ.com is now on countdown for the adorable teen’s eighteenth birthday.  The pint sized starlet will become legal on August 21.  According to the obsessive “countdown clock” that is continually running online here that means ten days and change.

As an added bonus with the clock Hayden looks adorable in some short shorts and a whit tee.  Will she be able to avoid the pitfalls of LiLo, Britney and the rest of the young Hollywood starlets with the paparazzi in tow?
